The aim of the small wins way is to provide a mechanism for leaders and their teams to drive higher performance.
The key word here is higher not high.
With higher there is no ceiling.
It is a continuous journey of reaching a higher performance level that you are at the moment.
Then pausing and stretching to achieve a new level.
And so on.
Even if this new performance level is an increase by 1%.
What I like about this approach is that it is accessible to all leaders and teams.
And can quickly spread to a entire culture.
From my work there are 3 key higher performance areas:
A good way to remember this is to think of PIE.
In working with leaders I ask them to consider setting their team a 1% goal in the next 30 days in one of these key areas.
Then use the 5-step small wins process.
After a 1% challenge they can move on to the next key focus and so on.
Imagine the power if every leader and team is working on a 1%, 30 day challenge.
The important point is that this is not extra work.
The small wins approach should be ideally focused on something the group is doing or planning to do.
This answers the question:
What’s in it for me?
A 1%, 30 day challenge can make everyone’s life simpler, easier and more enjoyable.
And help the organisation to become more productive, innovative and engaging.
A win – win.
